Graham Partners Puts Environmental Add-on to the Test!

Graham Partners, a private investment firm focused on investing in businesses with advanced manufacturing technologies, innovative product development capabilities, and strong growth potential, is pleased to announce that its portfolio company, SP Industries, Inc. (“SP”), a leading designer and manufacturer of laboratory-to-production scale equipment and specialty laboratory consumables used primarily in pharmaceutical development and production, has acquired Stability Environments, Inc. (“SEI”). SEI is a manufacturer of environmental walk-in rooms and chambers used by pharmaceutical, academic, and industrial customers to test products in a variety of atmospheric conditions.

Graham Partners acquired SP in 2011, premised on the thesis that a conversion to biologic therapies within drug development and production, which typically require the use of products such as those offered by SP, would benefit the company. The acquisition of SEI, which was completed through a proprietary process, broadens SP’s product offering, strengthens the company’s distribution relationships, and has the potential for significant cost synergies. Additionally, the acquisition offers SP’s direct sales force incremental selling opportunities. SEI is the second add-on acquisition completed by SP in the last six months, enabling SP to make significant progress toward the enhancement of its market presence through channel and product diversification.
